Civic & protest infrastructure

Flyers, stickers, and signs become a live coordination surface - scan for the current trusted instruction, not a stale redirect.

Research, not shipping yet.

Why live flyers

Protests and mutual-aid actions move faster than paper. Meeting points, routes, legal numbers, and safety copy change - old flyers keep circulating anyway.

  • Trust and timing Bad info wastes time, splits groups, or puts people in danger
  • Same ink, new truth Organizers update network status without reprinting everything

Example · march flyer

Printed

  • Meet City Hall 6 PM
  • Bring water · know your rights
  • Verified by organizers

Plans change

  • Meet Greene Square instead
  • City Hall route inactive
  • Medical: 3rd Ave · updated 14m ago

Compromised

  • Revoked - do not follow
  • Use official organizer channel

What every scan shows first

  • campaign status
  • current instructions
  • last updated
  • organizer verified
  • safety notice
  • meeting point · route
  • legal aid · jail support
  • medical / water station
  • revoked or active

No blind redirect. The flyer stays the same - the public instruction changes.

Secured with keys

Civic objects are high-risk - counter-protesters, infiltrators, and copied flyers are real.

Updates and revokes are signed with an organizer key that never leaves trusted devices. The network only accepts changes with a valid signature - scanning a photocopied QR cannot let a stranger rewrite instructions.

  • Revoke in one signed action Compromised or duplicated flyer → immediate “revoked” on next scan
  • Not the same as crowd vouching Campaign flyers should trust organizer keys, not open social vouch - so someone cannot “act like a supporter,” collect trust, then flip instructions
  • Separate keys for separate roles March campaign key ≠ personal card · recovery backup · short-lived operator keys that can be rotated after an action

Social trust still matters for people - but public instructions should be cryptographically controlled, revocable, and visibly timestamped.

Resilient coordination

Usually

  • Feeds, screenshots, rumor chains
  • Stale PDFs and dead links
  • No way to kill bad copies

Live flyer

  • Scan what is in front of you
  • Signed updates · visible revoke
  • Is this still trusted?

Printed material becomes live, revocable coordination infrastructure. That is the magic.
