The city stops being a backdrop and becomes a playable season. A bench,
mural, café window, alley arch, stairwell, or trail marker can act like a live quest
object - scan to change public world state, not just open a page.
Research walkthrough — high imagination, low surveillance.

Read the rules and open the city state board before scanning game nodes. Resolver-backed play runs on live /c/… scan URLs — demo layouts on this page remain design reference.
A season in one city
Imagine a month-long game layer spread across neighborhoods. The map is not inside an
app. The map is the city itself. Each QR object tells you what is true right
now: who holds a district gate, which route is awake, what lore just unlocked,
which node went dark, where tonight’s finale begins.
the river path wakes up after sunset
the mural district opens a secret chapter at midnight
the café window becomes neutral ground during storms
the stairwell shrine goes silent when its marker is revoked
What a sticker can be
unclaimed
captured by North faction
vulnerable after 8 PM
relay key rotated at noon
contains clue 3 of 7
revoked by creator
part of tonight’s route
lore updated after last capture
Ordinary places, mythic roles
Bench as district gateNorth Slope Gate · North faction · lanterns lit · one hidden message · reveals
the next route after relay restore
Mural as lore archiveChapter 4 unlocked · artist-verified legend · glows into a faction oath after
nightfall
Café window as sanctuaryNo captures here · regroup point · rumors board · temporary treaty zone for all
factions
Trail marker as route splitterWind route active · flood path closed · two clues live · sunrise-only bonus
chapter available
Alley arch as finale switchDormant all week · opens only when three neighborhoods are healed and one hidden
signal is found
What can change on the map

weather mode enabled

The QR is not the game. The QR is the physical handle for a live public
object.
Not a location-tracking game
Surveillance-flavored version
Track every player movement
Build heatmaps and per-scan histories
Profile devices, optimize addiction loops
Humanity version
Store public object state
Show what changed in the world
Keep the city magical without making people legible
Data policy boundary: the world can be live without turning the players into analytics.
One weekend, played across neighborhoods
Friday night, the map is quiet. By Sunday evening, the city feels annotated by legend:
Lantern Ward reclaimed the old market steps
The river node revealed a weather-only route
Station mural chapter 6 opened after midnight
Node 17 was compromised and cleanly revoked
Repairing the fountain light unlocked the final passage
Not a scavenger hunt. More like a lightweight operating system for public play.
Respect the data policy
Maximal creativity does not require maximal collection. The operator can support the
fantasy by publishing object truth while refusing the usual scan
surveillance.
May be public
Which faction holds a node
Whether a route, chapter, or sanctuary is live
Whether a marker is active, paused, or revoked
May be signed
Artist notes, maintainer notices, and lore drops
Repair confirmations and event state transitions
Rules that change the map without changing the ink
Must not become normal
No per-scan trails, location history, or device fingerprinting
No phone or email required just to participate in the idea
No hidden expansion into silent access logging
Read the operator data policy: no scan analytics by
default, and any future minimal logs require published governance.
Play that helps upkeep
The best version makes people care more about place. Discovery can reward attention and
stewardship without pretending players can certify safety-critical truth.
Discovery
Find the rain-garden drain, fountain light, mural lamp, or trail marker
Learn what state the object should show
Earn lore for noticing the city closely
Care loop
Report “sign missing,” “light out,” or “marker cracked”
Maintainer-signed updates can pause a node cleanly
Repair reactivates the route and opens the next chapter
Hard boundary
Players do not mark emergency or safety equipment safe
Game rewards discovery, not risky shortcuts
Maintenance status remains the public truth
Pair with proof of maintenance
when the object carries real-world service or safety state.
Why this feels new
People get a reason to notice the city differently:
this bench matters tonight
this mural is part of a larger story
this alley is a threshold
this café is sanctuary, not just commerce
this marker is alive right now
this city has hidden state without hidden tracking
Public space feels interactive, social, and enchanted - no headset, no
proprietary app, no scan-surveillance heatmap. That is the magic.
